The right teacher can change everything
When I was a kid, a drum teacher changed the way I saw music forever. He didn’t just teach me how to play drums. He made me believe I could become a musician. And that belief stayed with me.
From there, drumming took me to places I never expected. I started bands. I studied music. I worked abroad. I performed, learned from incredible musicians, and eventually had the opportunity to study with Jay Postones of TesseracT. But along the way, I realised something.
The most important thing my teacher gave me wasn’t knowledge. It was belief.
That’s why I teach. I want to give you the kind of lessons I was lucky enough to experience.
Lessons where you’re encouraged, challenged, and taken seriously. Where it’s ok to get things wrong. Where you can be yourself and prioritise progress over perfection.
Because you never know where picking up a pair of sticks could take you. It might just change your life.
My philosophy.
There’s no ‘right way’ to be a drummer
My job is to give you the knowledge, structure, and encouragement to keep moving forward – while helping you to discover your own sound along the way.
We’ll work on technique because it gives you freedom.
We’ll work on timing because it gives you control.
We’ll study music because it helps you make better choices.
But we’ll also experiment. We’ll make mistakes. We’ll try things that don’t work. Because that’s all part of the process.
I want my students to know they don’t have to be perfect; they don’t have to be naturally gifted; they don’t even have to be confident when they walk through the door. They just need someone who believes in them.
